World of the Piano
Alexander Bernstein ’16 (Artist Diploma) is a pianist of remarkable depth and versatility, known for his enthralling performances and profound musical insights. A laureate of numerous international competitions, Bernstein has enchanted audiences around the world with his expressive playing and technical mastery. Trained at some of the most prestigious music institutions, including the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Harvard University, he brings a refined touch and thoughtful interpretation to every piece he performs. Bernstein’s repertoire spans from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, always delivered with a unique blend of passion and precision.
Shenandoah Conservatory piano faculty member Marika Bournaki is a celebrated pianist whose dynamic performances and charismatic presence have earned her international acclaim. Described as the “Celine Dion of classical music,” Bournaki’s virtuosic talent and emotional depth shine through in every concert. A graduate of the Juilliard School, she has performed with leading orchestras and at major venues worldwide. Bournaki is also the subject of the award-winning documentary I am Not a Rock Star, which chronicles her journey as a young prodigy to an established artist. Her innovative approach and engaging style continue to captivate audiences and critics alike.
Together, Bernstein and Bournaki create an electrifying duo, combining their exceptional talents to deliver performances that are both technically brilliant and deeply moving.

Piano Masterclass
Monday, September 23 at 10AM • Armstrong Concert Hall
Observe the guest artists as they work with Shenandoah Conservatory piano students. Masterclasses are typically held on the Monday following each World of the Piano performance from 10AM to noon in Armstrong Concert Hall. Limited seating is open to the public for quiet observation. Please arrive by 9:45AM.
