Music in Motion III
The Wind Ensemble presents a transformative performance experience with its third Music in Motion concert event. This innovative performance breaks free from the traditional concert format by integrating movement elements, original compositions by talented students and mesmerizing choreography. With staging and choreography by Director of Opera Ella Marchment and a creative team of students from throughout the conservatory, each piece of music is brought to life through dynamic staging, surround sound, dance and jubilant processionals.
Lean In & Engage
Q: What are students learning or experiencing through this process?
“This is a concert that focuses on PERFORMING and connecting musicians to their audience. Much of this is accomplished through using modalities less familiar to them, such as motion and memorization of the vast majority of the repertoire.”
– Timothy J. Robblee, artistic director
Q: What excites you about working on this project?
“Asking instrumental students to rehearse and perform in ways that are less familiar to them AND collaborating with colleagues with dance and theatre!”
– Timothy J. Robblee, artistic director
Q: What are you excited about for audiences to experience?
“This is a band concert unlike most any an audience has ever seen. Students have memorized most repertoire to allow them to move about the performance space and create an immersive concert event.”
– Timothy J. Robblee, artistic director
