DESCRIPTION:Pre-concert Talk with the Choreographers\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHazel-Pruitt Armory\, Collaboratory \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event has been canceled due to the threat of severe weather. \n\n\n\nDance it out and get your week started right! Los Angeles–based activist dance theater company CONTRA-TIEMPO invites you to move and groove in their high-energy Sabor Session (from the Spanish word for “flavor”). Dancers will guide participants of all levels through Afro-Latin social dance forms rooted in radical joy\, rhythm and community connection. \n\n\n\nAppropriate for all ages\, levels and abilities. No dance experience required — just come ready to move and have fun. \n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to members of the Shenandoah University community and the general public. \n\n\n\nCo-sponsored by Shenandoah Conservatory\, the Division of Student Affairs and the Mosaic Center\, this workshop is part of CONTRA-TIEMPO’s creative residency at Shenandoah University supporting the development of their newest work\, Roots of Loving Us. \n\n\n\n\nSponsors\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe presentation of Roots of Loving Us by CONTRA-TIEMPO Activist Dance Theater was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project\, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoots of Loving Us by CONTRA-TIEMPO Activist Dance Theater is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation & Development Fund Project co-commissioned by ArtPower at University of California San Diego\, Shenandoah University\, University of Tampa and NPN.
