DESCRIPTION:Pre-Show Lecture: O Music of the Powers!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGoodson Chapel – Recital Hall \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnder the direction of Colin Davin\, the Guitar Ensemble presents an engaging evening celebrating the artistry\, versatility and expressive possibilities of the classical guitar. Featuring a vibrant repertoire spanning musical styles\, cultures and eras\, the program showcases the rich colors and collaborative spirit of guitar chamber music\, with works by Astor Piazzolla\, Celso Machado\, Katherine Hoover\, Béla Bartók\, Antonio Vivaldi and more. \n\n\n\nFrom the passionate rhythms of Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango and the Brazilian-inspired melodies of Machado’s Modinha Brasileira to Bartók’s spirited Romanian Folk Dances and Vivaldi’s lively Concerto alla Rustica\, the concert offers a captivating journey through musical traditions from around the world. Featuring performances by guitarists in intimate chamber settings\, collaborations with flute and larger ensemble works\, the evening highlights the exceptional musicianship of Shenandoah Conservatory’s guitar students. \n\n\n\nThe program also welcomes the Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy (SCAA) Guitar Ensemble\, under the direction of Keith Filppu\, for a special guest appearance\, bringing together musicians from across Shenandoah’s artistic community in a celebration of the guitar’s remarkable expressive range. \n\n\n\n\nDigital Program\n\n\n\nShenandoah Conservatory uses digital programs for all performances.
