SUMMARY:Suor Angelica & L'enfant et les sortilèges
DESCRIPTION:Lark\, Roman & Meyer\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOhrstrom-Bryant Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, April 23 at 7:30PMSunday\, April 25 at 2:30PM \n\n\n\nMain Stage Opera with Symphony Orchestra\n\n\n\n\n\nSuor AngelicaMusic by Giacomo PucciniLibretto by Giovacchino Forzano \n\n\n\n\n\nL’enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells)Music by Maurice RavelLibretto by Colette \n\n\n\n\n\nPrepare for an evening of sweeping emotion and fantastical wonder as Main Stage Opera presents a captivating early twentieth-century double bill\, directed by Kit Wilder: Giacomo Puccini’s deeply moving Suor Angelica paired with Maurice Ravel’s whimsical L’enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells). \n\n\n\nPremiering just six years apart (1919 and 1925)\, these two operatic masterpieces offer two brilliantly contrasting lenses into the music of the era. Under Wilder’s direction\, audiences will first be swept away by the devastating lyrical beauty and profound tragedy of Puccini’s cloistered tale of maternal love\, loss and redemption\, followed by the playful charm and dazzling orchestration of Ravel’s enchanted world\, where a mischievous child’s bedroom comes colorfully to life. \n\n\n\nSung in Italian and French with English surtitles \n\n\n\nDirected by Kit WilderConducted by Emanuele AndrizziMusical preparation by Maja TremiszewskaSet design by R. Eric StoneLighting design by Andrew CarsonCostume design by Shelbi WilkinSound design by Peyton Foranoce \n\n\n\nSuggested Show Rating: PG-13 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nPre-Show Lecture\n\n\n\nFriday\, April 23 at 6:30PMSunday\, April 25 at 1:30PM \n\n\n\nEnhance your experience by joining us for a pre-show lecture beginning one hour before each Main Stage Opera with Symphony Orchestra performance.
