Roni’s Roost opened for students in October 2016. Roni’s Roost is named for Roni Flett Wilkins who was born in Dublin, Ireland. Roni’s husband, James R. Wilkins, Jr., has served on the Board of Trustees since 1990, and her father-in-law, James R. Wilkins, Sr., was a founder of the modern-day SU.
Roni’s Roost offers six apartments. Each apartment houses four residents.
Residents must be junior or senior students. Priority is given to seniors and groups of four applying to fill an entire apartment. Students are selected based on an application, GPA requirements, conduct history and faculty/staff recommendation letters. All four residents must meet the application requirements to live in the apartment. The Village residents are selected to be mentors and positive role models for other Shenandoah students. Residents will be required to provide documentation of approved mentorship plan.
The newly constructed apartments feature:

- full kitchen
- spacious living area
All apartments are fully furnished, including:
- washing machine
- dryer
- modern kitchen appliances
- communal porch
- green space complete with a grill and fire pit are available for the enjoyment of residents
