A one-ton, 10-foot-tall bronze statue of Shenandoah’s mascot, Buzzy D. Hornet, is destined to become a new iconic spot on Shenandoah University’s main campus. On Saturday, Oct. 6, during Homecoming and Family Weekend 2018, we dedicated the statue, located between the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center, to President Emeritus Dr. James A. Davis, and his wife, Janet, a Shenandoah alumna who earned her master’s degree from Shenandoah in 1985. See how this surprise dedication came together and check out the new Buzzy statue, too!
