Healthcare Leadership in the 21st Century

At Shenandoah University’s Healthcare Leadership in the 21st Century conference in October, experts discussed health care, which, as an industry, consumes one-sixth of the nation’s economy. The event explored how the work of clinicians and business people meld and co-mingle within this vitally important sector. Participants included William A. Hazel, Jr., M.D., Virginia’s secretary of health and human resources; Andrew W. Gurman, M.D., immediate past president of the American Medical Association; and J. Knox Singleton, chief executive officer of Inova Health System. Shenandoah University recognizes healthcare management and leadership as a growing career focus, and offers a Healthcare Management major through the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business.
