Shenandoah University 2017 Children’s Literature Conference

Shenandoah University’s Children’s Literature Conference has celebrated reading, writing and teaching since 1986. It brings together award-winning authors and illustrators, teachers, and librarians to explore the world of children’s books and how to best reach young readers and writers, from the avid to the reluctant. Authors and illustrators talk about their work, their influences, and often, their own childhoods – information that teachers and librarians then share with their students to better understand how the books they read come to be. The week of Shenandoah University’s Children’s Literature Conference is filled with fun and learning for not only teachers and librarians, but also the community, which, in recent years, has come together for a “Rockin’ the Library” party in the heart of downtown Winchester, Virginia, complete with author visits, cupcakes, and of course, books.
