The Shenandoah Conservatory’s Opera program collaborated with the Shenandoah Center for Immersive Learning to create an augmented reality application for viewing before the Fall 2023 Opera performance of “Caged Birds.” Opera Director Ella Marchment worked with Immersive Media Specialist Lee Graff and students like Ann Fink to create the experience which involved dance students performing before a green key wall. The media created were made into moments with transparency that could be played on an iPad in the Glaize Theatre as part of an augmented reality display prior to the main show.
