Summer Scholars Program at Shenandoah University

On July 25, the 2019 Shenandoah Summer Scholars presented research in a wide variety of disciplines at locations both on and off-campus through a mobile symposium. The day began at Winchester Senior Center at the Active Living Center in Winchester’s Jim Barnett Park and continued with presentations at the Shenandoah River Campus at Cool Spring Battlefield, and the main campus Health & Life Sciences Building. Presentations featured research conducted with congregants at the senior center, as well as conducted on bluegill sunfish, Cool Spring’s forgotten past, Spanish theater, antibiotic resistance, anti-depressant uptake, and preconception health. Through the Summer Scholars program, students engage in research alongside faculty members, developing skills they’ll need for continued growth in their chosen fields.
