As a leader, Cary focuses on creating an environment where employees challenge themselves – and others – to innovate and think differently when it comes to reaching business goals. However, his passion rests with a vision based on the values of caring and inclusion, recognizing and celebrating the individuality of every employee through the Power of Story. Through story, he believes we truly learn to live, to care, and ultimately, to see. Cary employed this same leadership focus prior to joining American Woodmark. He previously served as vice president of global operations for Diamond Innovations, a leading supplier of industrial diamonds. He also served as vice president of operations for BBA Fiberweb and vice president of operations for Tenneco Automotive European emission control division, as well as plant management and marketing strategy roles with Cummins Inc. A native of Washington, Illinois, Cary, his wife and two children live in Winchester, Virginia. Cary has always been about family with a passion for outdoor adventure, particularly exploring new destinations with his family. Cary also enjoys hiking, fishing and is a fitness enthusiast.
Leaders all aspire to do great things and to be seen as servant leaders in the eyes of those we serve. But are we making the necessary Choices in our lives to truly be great leaders? Choices that are more about our own selves, than the individuals we lead. Cary will open your eyes to a path that will not only make you a better leader but will perhaps offer you the opportunity to move your life story in a direction you have always wanted. The Choice will be yours!
