Learn how an award-winning UK luxury brand (Elvis & Kresse) makes belts, bags and wallets from upcycled fire hoses and other materials; even celebrity Cameron Diaz is a fan! You’ll also see how a new upcycling venture inspired by Elvis & Kresse, featuring a patent-pending punching bag stuffed with locally sourced skateboard shavings, is being operated by Shenandoah University business students. The session will include a live demo with student-athletes, co-presented by School of Business student Conor Bailey ’23. You will learn a lot, feel inspired and be entertained by sustainability efforts with a surprising commercial twist.
Presenter: Giles Jackson, Ph.D., Baxa Professor of Stakeholder Capitalism and Director of the university’s Institute for Business, Sustainability & Society, teaches sustainable business strategy, advanced management theory and practice, marketing and branding. A passionate advocate of experiential learning, his research focuses on sustainable business strategy, and he has led consulting projects with hundreds of companies and nonprofit organizations.
