For 150 years, Shenandoah University has been a beacon of opportunity, a place where dreams take flight and futures are forged. Named for the beautiful valley, which in Algonquian means “Sons and Daughters of the Stars,” Shenandoah is home to a community in which each individual, past and present, is a luminary example of the university’s achievements. Together, we have accomplished much during our improbable and resilient history.

But, our story is just beginning.
We are rising.
It’s time to let the world see how we SHINE.

How Shenandoah Is Shining
Jasmin Seaberry ’25
“I launched Inner Circle, a health management pilot program implemented at a local domestic violence shelter for women, where I engaged directly with residents to provide education and support around managing their health. I will continue this partnership by offering ongoing training and services to raise awareness and promote self-efficacy among women in the shelter.”

Bryan McKane ’24
There are a ton of veterans here, and a lot of veterans organizations, but they’re kind of all on their own program. Bringing them all together through business and entrepreneurship, is what the HIVE is all about.”

Marissa Overbaugh ’25
For me, the beautiful rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley are home. I chose to attend Shenandoah University to build a professional networking platform as a young adult. This school provides room for growth in a variety of fields with professionals in each industry willing and able to help you achieve your goals. I love that there is a helping hand at every corner. The small campus feel and friendly environment are what made SU my choice.”

A Legacy of Generosity
For nearly 150 years, Shenandoah University’s story has been written by the generosity of those who believe in its mission. This enduring legacy of philanthropy—one gift building upon the next—ensures a vibrant future for our students. Today, that tradition is honored and elevated by alumnus Wilbur Dove ’59 and his wife Clare. With their historic $20 million commitment—the single largest gift in the university’s history—The Doves are inspiring the next chapter of our growth and success.
Shenandoah University provided me with a foundation that I’ve carried through my life – a foundation that I truly value. It is my honor to give back to the institution that has given so much to me, my family, and the countless others who are fortunate enough to be associated with this university. I believe in Shenandoah’s mission, and I believe in its future as a model of excellence in higher education.”
