In February, the Hazel-Pruitt Armory, home of the Hub for Innovators, Veterans and Entrepreneurs, hosted “A Salute to Our Veterans,” a networking event that fostered connections between veterans, community partners, university leaders and supporters.

The event was introduced by Karen Abraham, Ph.D., provost of Shenandoah University, as well as Eric Jorgensen, Ph.D., of Wingman Executive Coaching, and Bryan McKane, president of Shenandoah Veterans and Supporters, a veterans support group at SU. Representatives from numerous organizations dedicated to supporting veterans and their families also attended, including: Heroes on the River, Honor Flight, Navy Federal Credit Union, Northern Shenandoah Community Veteran Engagement Board (CVEB), Red Cross, Shenandoah University Admissions and GI Bill Representatives, Shenandoah Veterans and Supporters Group (SVS), Veteran Business Community Group (VBC), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the Vet Center of Martinsburg. These groups each connected attendees to resources like financial services, educational benefits, entrepreneurship support, wellness services, and community engagement opportunities.

“We are deeply grateful for the incredible turnout and the strong sense of camaraderie that filled the Hazel-Pruitt Armory. The presence and participation of our veterans and partners made the evening both meaningful and memorable,” Dr. Abraham said.
