Shenandoah Alumni Cabaret Returns to NYC, Honoring Legacy and Celebrating Community

The Shenandoah spirit lit up New York City on March 1, as alumni, students, and friends gathered for an unforgettable evening at the Shenandoah Alumni Cabaret, held at Chelsea Table and Stage. The event — filled to capacity — celebrated artistry, connection, and the enduring legacy of Ira Lindberg Harris ’10.

This year’s cabaret continued a tradition born from loss and love. Following Ira’s passing in 2012, Shenandoah and the Alumni Office sponsored an annual event to honor his memory and support the endowed Ira Lindberg Harris Scholarship. While the tradition paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, the desire to revive it never faded.

Thanks to the dedication of alumni volunteers Jessie Hooker-Bailey ’10, Jenny Ravitz-Brightman ’11, Camille Johnson ’14, and Frankie Ramirez ’16, the cabaret returned stronger than ever. Their leadership brought renewed energy and purpose to an evening that beautifully reflected Ira’s impact on the Shenandoah community.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds — along with funds raised through raffles and donations — directly supports the Ira Lindberg Harris Scholarship, ensuring that his legacy continues to uplift future generations of Shenandoah students.

The night featured dazzling performances from members of the Musical Theatre Class of 2025, whose artistry and professionalism highlighted the strength of Shenandoah’s training. Performers included Ben Yantis ’25, Cabe Parrish ’25, Carl Rayman ’25, Chance Anding ’25, Cora Laux ’25, Ellen Frary ’25, Eva Gary ’25, Gannon Thomas ’25, Haidyn Bye ’25, Jillian Reef ’25, Lauren Hondred ’25, Lily Anderson ’25, Mark Montgomery ’25, Morgan Mundro ’25, and Thomas Lightsey ’25. Their presence also underscored a key goal of this year’s event: strengthening connections with recent graduates building their careers in New York City.

Alumni from across class years filled the venue, celebrating not only Ira’s memory but also the shared legacy that binds Shenandoah performers, creators, and educators. The atmosphere was one of joy, remembrance, and deep community pride.

From heartfelt tributes to show-stopping performances, the Shenandoah Alumni Cabaret was a powerful reminder of what makes this community extraordinary. It honored the past, celebrated the present, and looked toward a bright future for Shenandoah alumni everywhere.
