|Dance Film Premiere Presented in Partnership with DanceWorks Chicago
Shenandoah Conservatory and DanceWorks Chicago unveil an original dance film featuring selections from Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s 1983 landmark work Rosas Danst Rosas. The project, developed during the COVID-19 crisis, features 20 dancers, including students from the conservatory’s advanced modern dance class, two recent Shenandoah Conservatory alumni, and six professional dancers from DanceWorks Chicago. The 12-minute film features the original second section of Rosas Danst Rosas and new sections created by the dancers based on De Keersmaeker’s original movement score. The dancers rehearsed virtually from their home locations throughout the United States.
Audiences can access the free performance by logging onto Shenandoah Conservatory’s Facebook page at 2PM EDT on Friday, May 8. The unveiling of the dance film, which is approximately 12 minutes, will include a live interview with the project leaders and comments from the dancers. Audiences are invited to submit questions via the Facebook comments section.
