Shenandoah New Music
Called “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by The Boston Globe, Hub New Music is a “nimble quartet of winds and strings” (NPR) driven by an unwavering dedication to building community through new art. Hub has collaborated with today’s most celebrated emerging and established composers, commissioning dozens of new works to usher in a fresh and culturally relevant body of work for its distinct combination of flute, clarinet, violin and cello. The ensemble’s “appealing programs” (The New Yorker) celebrate the rich diversity of today’s classical music landscape.

Lean In & Engage
Student Learning
“As a Grammy Award-nominated ensemble, Hub New Music are players of extraordinary ability, and our students will get opportunities to engage with them in person on their own individual instruments, as well as hear them perform intriguing music at their extremely high level.”
– Jonathan Newman, Director of Composition and Coordinator of New Music
For the Audience
“Hub New Music is a mixed quartet of flute, clarinet, violin and cello — and the odd combination of instruments has allowed them to commission new music and create an entire repertoire of music for that instrumentation to share with our community. I’m excited that our audiences will hear engaging music for an unusual instrumentation — very likely different from anything else you’ve heard before.”
– Jonathan Newman, Director of Composition and Coordinator of New Music
