Experience a spirited celebration of wind ensemble artistry as Shenandoah Conservatory’s Symphonic Band presents An Evening with Friends, a special joint concert featuring the John Handley High School Symphonic Band under the direction of Doug Harrison alongside the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphonic Band led by Shaun Evans. This collaborative performance highlights the shared passion, precision and expressive range of young and emerging musicians in a rich program of wind literature.

The John Handley ensemble opens the evening with dynamic works such as The Great Locomotive Chase by Robert W. Smith, the evocative Cloudscapes by Tyler Arcari, Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion and the adventurous Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons by Steven Reineke. After intermission, the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphonic Band takes the stage with exhilarating selections including Wild Nights! by Frank Ticheli, Diamond Tide by Viet Cuong and Soul Suite No. 1 by Marie A. Douglas, offering audiences a vibrant journey through contrasting styles and musical personalities.
