Kick off the Shenandoah Guitar Festival performance series with an electrifying opening recital featuring acclaimed guitarist Colin Davin and special guests Jason Vieaux and Maja Tremiszewska. Known for his expressive artistry and wide-ranging musical voice, Davin joins these exceptional collaborators for an afternoon celebrating the guitar in all its versatility. From intimate solo works to dynamic chamber collaborations, this special recital sets the stage for a weekend of world-class music-making.
The program features a diverse and vibrant musical journey, including Leo Brouwer’s arrangement of Lennon and McCartney’s The Fool on the Hill for two guitars, Clarice Assad’s evocative Macunaíma and Radamés Gnattali’s rhythmically rich Suíte popular brasileira for guitar and piano. Blending Brazilian influences, contemporary expression and beloved popular music, the recital highlights the guitar’s remarkable range of color, texture and storytelling.

Now in its third year, the Shenandoah Guitar Festival is a gathering of students, enthusiasts and professionals in a celebration of the art of the guitar on the main campus of Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester. The festival brings together a vibrant community of performers, educators and audiences for concerts, masterclasses and collaborative experiences that highlight the versatility and artistry of the guitar. This year’s event includes four extraordinary concerts featuring performances by Colin Davin and friends, the Patterson/Sutton Duo, Leonela Alejandro, Ziggy & Miles and Jason Vieaux.
