The Studio Big Band (Matthew Niess, director) presents a journey through more than 100 years of jazz, celebrating the historic recordings and artists that shaped America’s great art form. From early New Orleans jazz and Louis Armstrong to Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, this concert traces the evolution of jazz into the modern era with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Maria Schneider, Wynton Marsalis and today’s contemporary composers and arrangers.
