Rhapsody in Blue
Join the Wind Ensemble for an evening of warmth, color and musical storytelling. The program features Rhapsody in Blue, George Gershwin’s iconic fusion of jazz and classical traditions, performed with acclaimed pianist Marika Bournaki. Bursting with energy, lyricism and unmistakable American spirit, this beloved masterpiece remains one of the most celebrated works of the twentieth century. Complementing Gershwin’s classic is Apricity by guest composer-in-residence Hilary Purrington, a luminous contemporary work inspired by the warmth of sunlight during winter. Additional popular favorites round out the program, bringing familiar melodies, infectious rhythms and audience favorites to the stage. Together, these works create an engaging musical journey that celebrates both beloved classics and vibrant contemporary voices.
