Dear Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Friends,
Happy Holidays! As we ready ourselves for the weeks ahead, which will no doubt be busy with visits from family, friends and loved ones, I want to take this opportunity to thank you, our alumni, friends, faculty and staff for continuing to be Shenandoah University’s most important and passionate ambassadors. I want to especially thank our Alumni Association Board of Directors for their dedicated service this past year.
We have been busy with various committees and most recently; we met on Nov. 12 for our Fall Board meeting. We continued our discussion of the “Alumni Office of the Future” and are going to work hard in 2017 to reach out to connect with alumni. We set an engagement goal at 2,500, which means we hope to not only invite alumni to return to campus but rather engage 2,500 alumni by asking them to join a committee, submit information for an Alumni Profile, speak to a class or simply provide a class note. We have such talented alumni that are making contributions to the communities they live in everyday, so we hope to be able to share their story. Be sure that you connect to SU.
Also, during our fall meeting, Board Member, Bryan Newman shared his work with Environment Studies Professor, Dr. Woodward Bousquet, on the program’s 25th anniversary celebration during Homecoming. After viewing the presentation, it was evident that the celebration was a huge success.
Mitch Moore, Senior Vice President/Vice President for Advancement, attended our meeting and we had the opportunity to ask him lots of questions…everything from facilities, finances and the future of SU. We were excited to hear about everything that is going on at SU and having this information will support us in making connections in 2017.
While there are many exciting things to come, I hope you take time during the holidays to re-energize and reflect on the past year, and to recognize all of the good things in our lives.
I wish you a joyous holiday season and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year!
