Professional Highlights:
Her higher education experience extends across the globe. She’s held positions at Dar Al-Hekma University in Saudi Arabia, Bay Path University in Massachusetts, George Mason University, Sam Houston State University, and Johns Hopkins University before joining Shenandoah University.
Dr. Spencer brings more than 25 years of experience to her new post. She taught in public schools, owned a private practice, worked with the Training and Technical Assistance Center for the Virginia Department of Education, and served as a Fulbright Scholar in Barbados. Recently, she served as president of the Division of International Special Education & Services (DISES), which is a division of the Council for Exceptional Children that promotes international communication, cooperation and progress in education and services for children who have disabilities and/or gifts and talents.
