Online Manual Saves Money and Paper

Digital version of biology lab manual has immediate results

A digital copy of a General Biology 101 lab manual – developed in 2014 by Associate Professor of Biology Laurel Rodgers, Ph.D., with the help of her colleagues Assistant Professor of Biology Mike Zimmermann, Ph.D., and Lecturer of Biology Wendy Peiffer, Ph.D. – was developed in 2018 as a curricular project with Academic Computing Technology, and provided to all Biology 101 students, along with the Notability app. Using Notability, the iPad Pro 10.5 and Apple Pencil to interact with Dr. Rodgers’ lab manual in the fall semester of 2018 resulted in immediate results, including $2,100 in cost savings for students who did not need to purchase a hard copy of the lab manual and 51,100 sheets of paper not being printed.
