Composer Residency with Newman Culminates in Premiere of New Work, “NOVEL ROMANCE”

On Dec. 5, and Dec. 6, Director of Composition and Coordinator of New Music Jonathan Newman, M.M., participated in a guest composer residency at the University of Kansas School of Music. Newman rehearsed with the students in a new work for wind ensemble they commissioned, “NOVEL ROMANCE.” He also worked with the student composers and conductors during his residency. The new work premiered on Dec. 6, at the Lied Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
