The application information below is intended for students who are currently enrolled as first- and second-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Business at Shenandoah University. All first-year students CAS and SOB who have a minimum GPA of 3.3 at Shenandoah University are invited to apply to the Honors Program.
All application materials are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 2, 2026 and should be submitted by email to Dr. Jon Udelson (judelson@su.edu). Please ask the faculty member writing your letter to email your recommendation directly to Dr. Udelson. You will receive a confirmation email once all materials have been received. Please ensure that your name is on all application documents.
Upon acceptance into the Shenandoah Honors Program, students must maintain a 3.3 GPA, complete three 1-credit Honors seminars (HON 101, HON 201, and HON 301 or HON 401), 6 credits of Honors ShenEd courses, and 6 credits of Honors courses in their majors. Exceptions can be made for those who transferred in more than 15 credits to SU.
A completed application includes the following items:
- One letter of recommendation from a Shenandoah University faculty member (sent directly to Dr. Udelson).
- A cover page. Your cover page should include:
- Name:
- SU student ID:
- Major:
- Are you a current first-year student in the College of Arts and Sciences or School of Business at SU?
- What is your expected graduation date?
- A copy of your resume.
- Two essays (see essay prompts below). The essays focus on your academic experience and creativity. Each essay should be a maximum of 500 words and must be entirely your own work/in your own words.
- Completed Google Form

- Option A: You need to hide a body. Why do you need to hide a body and who would you ask to help?
- Option B: If you wanted people to understand you, what would you give them to read, watch, and listen to. Explain each choice.
