Honors Program Application for Current First- and Second-Year Students

The application information below is intended for students who are currently enrolled as first-year student in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Business at Shenandoah University. All first-year students CAS and SOB who have a minimum GPA of 3.3 at Shenandoah University are invited to apply to the Honors Program.

All application materials are due by 5 p.m. on March 3, 2025 and should be submitted by email to Dr. Jon Udelson (judelson@su.edu). Please ask the faculty member writing your letter to email your recommendation directly to Dr. Udelson. You will receive a confirmation email once all materials have been received. Please ensure that your name is on all application documents.

A completed application includes the following items:
  • One letter of recommendation from a Shenandoah University faculty member (sent directly to Dr. Udelson).
  • A cover page. Your cover page should include:
    • Name:
    • SU student ID:
    • Major:
    • Are you a current first-year student in the College of Arts and Sciences or School of Business at SU?
    • What is your expected graduation date?
  • A copy of your resume.
  • Two essays (see essay prompts below). The essays focus on your academic experience and creativity. Each essay should be a maximum of 500 words and must be entirely your own work/in your own words.
  • Completed Google Form

Choose one of the following two essay options:

  • Option A: You need to hide a body. Why do you need to hide a body and who would you ask to help?
  • Option B: If you wanted people to understand you, what would you give them to read, watch, and listen to. Explain each choice.
