The Shenandoah University Honors Program is a multidisciplinary Honors Program for students who are curious, creative, self-motivated, and eager to engage in their education and community.
Not only do Honors Program students partake in honors courses that emphasize collaboration, service, and communication, but they will also have the opportunity to develop aspects of the program based on their own interests and goals. By participating in the Shenandoah University Honors Program you will acquire the tools, knowledge and experiences necessary to make meaningful contributions to your community – whether it be globally, locally, or specific to your life’s work. You will have access to unique courses, exciting experiences and a community of peers and faculty who never stop asking questions and striving for excellence.
The Shenandoah University Honors Program is currently open to College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, four-year BSN Nursing undergraduate students.

Honors Program Curriculum
Designed for intellectually curious, motivated students, honors courses are open to any College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, or 4yr BSN Nursing undergraduate student who has completed 15 credits at Shenandoah University and has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. All honors courses complement the Shenandoah University General Education program and the University’s dedication to advancement in knowledge, critical thinking and communication.
Honors Program Requirements & Application Process
All incoming College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and four-year BSN Nursing first-year students are invited to apply to the Shenandoah University Honors Program. Upon review of application materials, the Honors Council will invite students to complete an interview process. A select group of students will be invited to join the program based on their honors admissions essay, interview, letters of recommendation and prior academic performance.
Honors Program Experiences
Members of the Honors Program have the opportunity to plan social and educational events such as guest speakers, trips to Washington D.C., film screenings, etc. Honors students also are encouraged to plan events in conjunction with honors students at neighboring colleges and universities.
