The Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business at Shenandoah University will host its Ninth Annual Business Symposium on Friday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Halpin-Harrison Hall on the campus of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, for members of the local and regional business communities, as well as students of the university.
“Imagine: Your Business Legacy” is the theme of this year’s symposium, and attendees will hear from Ron Losby, president and CEO of Steinway & Sons, during a keynote address. Under Losby’s leadership, Steinway has continued to adapt its brand, remain relevant in the market, and uphold a standard of uncompromising quality known around the world. Attendees will also learn how the company continues to innovate and change with the times.
“We are excited to have the president and CEO of a company with an iconic brand, such as Steinway, be our keynote speaker,” said Dean of the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business Miles Davis, Ph.D. “There are very few businesses that have survived more than 160 years and have successfully adapted to the changing times. Ron Losby is the perfect keynote speaker during these changing times, as we can only imagine what the future holds. But, we can look back at the Steinway company and learn how they survived and thrived through the years.”
The event is designed to inspire and educate attendees from for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Students can enhance their classroom experience through direct exposure to the diverse community of business professionals and speakers that are the heart of the symposium. The Business Symposium has increased in attendance every year, garnered prominent keynote speakers, and has hosted a sellout crowd in years past.
In addition to a world-class keynote address, attendees can choose from an array of dynamic breakout sessions focused on current business issues and best practices. These sessions will help attendees put today’s rapidly changing business climate in perspective and provide practical tools, tips and techniques to use right now.
Some breakout sessions from this year’s symposium include, “Dress for Success for Less,” “Creating Your American Dream,” “Humanizing Change,” “Creating Legacy for Family Owned Business” and much more. Networking opportunities are available throughout the day, and registration includes refreshments, a gourmet lunch, and a wine and cheese reception.
As a result of generous sponsorships, including First Bank, the title sponsor, all high school and college students wishing to attend the Business Symposium may do so free of charge. All others should visit subusiness.org for more information, pricing and to register. Early bird registration is available until Tuesday, Feb. 28.
