Trumpet Ensemble to Perform at Prestigious Conference

Group Will Appear at 2017 International Trumpet Guild Conference

The Shenandoah Conservatory Trumpet Ensemble has been invited to perform at the 2017 International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The conference begins Tuesday, May 30. and runs through Saturday, June 3, and is the most prestigious annual international gathering of trumpet players in the world. This is the 42nd conference hosted by the organizations and the theme for the event is “The Sweet Sounds of the Trumpet!” The ensemble was invited to perform after submitting a recording made for the Trumpet Prelude Ensembles portion of the conference.

Sophomore composition major and trumpet ensemble member Jonathan Wyatt wrote a piece titled “Spree” for the event, Adjunct Associate Professor of Trumpet Chuck Seipp, D.M.A., arranged Bach’s “My Spirit Be Joyful,” and David Marlatt composed “Click” for the Trumpet Ensemble. All three pieces will be premiered at the ITG conference.

The Trumpet Ensemble is directed by Professor of Trumpet and Conducting Scott Nelson, D.M.A., and  Seipp. Members of the ensemble include Anthony Barnwell ’18 (Master of Music in Performance), Nathan Bradley ’20 (Bachelor of Music in Music Education), Michael Christie ’17 (Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies), Amanda Conkins ’20 (Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy), Josue Duran ’18 (Bachelor of Music in Performance), James Looney ’19 (Bachelor of Music in Performances, Bachelor of  Music in Jazz Studies), Jennifer Riddle ’17 (Master of Music in Performance), Nicholas Serbu ’18 (Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies), Kyle Vogan ’20 (Bachelor of Music in Music Education) and Jonathan Wyatt ’19 (Bachelor of Music in Composition).
