Conservatory Faculty News

A book proposal by Shenandoah Conservatory Dean and Professor of Music Michael Stepniak, Ed.D., was accepted for publication by Routledge. Co-authored by violinist Peter Sirotin, the book will be one of the first for the College Music Society Series in Emerging Fields of Music. The opportunity follows the popular success of of Dr. Stepniak’s article “Beyond Beauty, Brilliance, and Expression: On Reimagining Jazz and Classical Music Performance Training and Reconnecting with the General Public,” which explores the rethinking of classical and jazz music performance training in higher education; it has become the most-read article in the College Music Symposium’s recent history.
