2018 Bass Coalition Summer Workshop

The Bass Coalition Summer Workshop at Shenandoah Conservatory hosted 35 bassists ranging in age from 10 to 45. Of those 35 artists, five were selected to participate in the Stokes Intensive Workshop for aspiring professionals. The event culminated in two concerts, one of solo presentations by the intensive participants, and one comprising small ensembles as a Bass Orchestra (35 bassists at once). Workshop faculty included Coordinator of Strings and Professor of Bass Donovan Stokes, D.M., Inez Wyrick, Mark Rubinstein (The Ohio State University), Eric Hanson (University of Tennessee-Chattanooga), Adam Booker (Appalachian State University), and Shenandoah bass alumni Kevin Johnson ’11, Zach Rowden ’14, Ethan Lawrence ’13 and Shanti Nachtergaele ’13.
