Weekly Celebrates World Voice Day with Video Featuring Students

Auxiliary Adjunct Associate Professor of Voice and Co-Founder of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute Edrie Means Weekly ’84, M.M., celebrated World Voice Day by creating ”I’m Singing Healthy for You,” a video compilation of her students singing a creative twist on the Jonas Brothers’ song “Sucker.” Her students picked the song and developed the new lyrics.

Each year, Weekly typically challenges her Shenandoah students to post something in awareness of World Voice Day on Facebook.

“I am very proud of them,” said Weekly. “Due to COVID-19, this year was a tad challenging given the students had to film their videos individually from their homes to the vocal track (fortunately, they had recorded the vocals – no video — before we went on spring break). They all did a great job and I am so proud of them.”

Justin DeLong ’21 (Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy) worked the mix of vocals and music separately.

“I had a great time editing the videos, connecting the mixed vocal track and putting it all together (a first for me),” continued Weekly. “Enjoy!”
