Yesenia Nunez ’22 awarded The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are Hispanic nursing students who are role models for aspiring nursing students

MSN-FNP student Yesenia Nunez ’22 was awarded The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) Scholarship on July 17, 2020.

This is a 3-year award for $5,000 each year that is funded by the United Health Foundation. Scholarship recipients are a select group of Hispanic nursing students who demonstrate promise of professional contributions to the nursing profession and who have the potential to act as role models for aspiring nursing students. Nunez is also working on her post-graduate certificate for healthcare management in the School of Business.

She was one of 18 scholarship recipients from across the country to receive the United Health Foundation’s award for 2020.

The NAHN and United Health Foundation Diverse Scholars Initiative

The United Health Foundation Diverse Scholars Initiative works to increase the number of primary care health providers ready to meet health care needs now and in the future by creating a more culturally relevant health workforce and a more effective health care system, particularly in under-served communities. NAHN values its partnership with the United Health Foundation, who provides a $5,000 per year scholarship for up to three consecutive years. Scholar conference registration and membership dues are funded by UHF through the academic years scholarships are received.
