Shenandoah Creates Additional Learning Spaces

Tents Allow Students to Study, Learn Outdoors

The tents are back at Shenandoah.

The large white tents became a fixture this past fall as a way to space out students and reduce the density of our community. The spaces provided a spot where students could study, learn or take a break. Many were used as outdoor classrooms. They were taken down in the late fall when the weather turned cold.

Recently, Shenandoah put back up three of these tents:

  • a large tent in front of Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre
  • a medium-sized tent at Sarah’s Glen
  • a medium tent at the Health Professions Building on the Winchester Medical Center campus

These are spaces where students can hang out or study, all while adhering to social distancing and wearing a mask if remaining six feet apart is not possible. Students taking classes remotely through ShenFlex can use these spaces to virtually participate in their courses.

Each space will be equipped with tables, chairs, hand sanitizer and Wi-Fi. Capacity for these spaces range up to 30 people.
