Shenandoah University Partners With Verto Education

Partnership Will Provide an Accredited First-Year Abroad Program

Shenandoah University is thrilled to launch an innovative partnership with Verto Education, allowing its learners to start college abroad before continuing their studies on campus.

Incoming students can now opt to spend their first semester or year of college in destinations like Fiji, Costa Rica, London, and more, while earning college credits that will transfer seamlessly to Shenandoah.

Verto’s groundbreaking model offers a once-in-a-lifetime educational and cultural experience, combined with direct admission to partner colleges. With Verto, students earn official college credit through experiential learning, allowing them to stay on track to graduate in four years from Shenandoah.

“The benefits of education abroad are profound, diverse, and lifelong,” said Shenandoah University Provost Cameron J. McCoy, Ph.D. “While attending a Verto program, learners are exposed to perspective-changing experiences that help them have a clearer vision about the lives of purpose they want to pursue. We believe this is critical for learning with intention and positive life outcomes. The program also coalesces with Shenandoah’s ongoing dedication to providing learners with powerful international experiences.”

Those who participate in a Verto semester earn 12-16 credits per semester that will count towards Shenandoah’s general education requirements and elective credits.

Structured around small class sizes, cultural-immersion, and project-based learning, Verto’s accredited courses bring subjects to life and help students gain clarity on their passions and academic interests. The most popular courses include Introduction to Business in London, Spanish language in Madrid, Environmental Science in Costa Rica, and Cultural Anthropology in Fiji.

“Shenandoah is innovating the way we typically consider a first-year experience in the midst of an atypical year,” said Mitch Gordon, president and co-founder of Verto Education.

Students who are interested in spending their first semester or year abroad should apply directly to Verto Education and select Shenandoah as the partner college for admission.
