Crowhurst ’13 Writes Music and Sound Designs for New Video Game

Composer, pianist and sound designer Julian Crowhurst ’13 (Bachelor of Music in Composition) is creating the music and sound design for Gardenfiend Games’ first title, “Perennial Order.”

In 2020, he co-founded the video game development company, Gardenfiend Games, with three other individuals and they started working on their first title, “Perennial Order.” He is composing the original score for the game and creating all of the sound design, in addition to contributing to the game’s design, story, dialogue and characters. The title is set to be released in 2024.

In 2021, the company pitched “Perennial Order” to publishers all over the globe to secure funding and distribution, ultimately signing a publishing deal with SOEDESCO, a company based in the Netherlands. The game is set to release in 2024.

Crowhurst and his team traveled to Cologne, Germany, in August to exhibit the game at Gamescom 2023. The team shared a playable demo of the game as part of SOEDESCO’s booth. Gamescom is the largest video game convention in the world, with more than 320,000 in attendance.

He also had the opportunity to play the main theme he composed for “Perennial Order” in front of the Cologne Cathedral.

Crowhurst earned a Master of Music in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University (NYU) in 2016.
