Backus ’17 Plays Role of Scout Finch in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

Scout Backus ’17 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting) is playing the role of Scout Finch in the national tour of the Broadway production of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” through Feb. 25. Backus joined the cast in January 2022.

“I am very lucky to be in this play for many, many reasons — one of which is the fact that it’s written so beautifully. When you’re in a play that’s this well written, it makes the job of an actor so much simpler.”
