McManus Lectures in Musicology Colloquium, Participants in PBO Panel Discussion

Coordinator of Music Literature and Associate Professor of Music History and Literature Laurie McManus, Ph.D., will present “The Uncanny Double: Sound and Trauma in Matthew Holness’s Possum (2018)” on Wednesday, Feb. 14, as part of the Musicology Colloquium presented by the Departments of Music at The Catholic University of America.

She will also take part in the Opera Forum Lecture Series with Palm Beach Opera (PBO) in a panel discussion on “Listening to the Tales of Hoffmann” on Sunday, Feb. 25. PBO welcomes guest scholars of music history and literature in this discussion of 19th century fantasy and its relevance to 21st century audiences. Participants are invited to learn about the history of the opera, as well as its sources and performances, ahead of opening night of PBO’s second production of the season.
