Japanese Tea Ceremony Demonstration
November 18 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Shenandoah University invites the campus community to a Japanese Tea Ceremony Demonstration on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 2–3 p.m. in the Pruitt Health & Life Sciences Building, Halpin Rotunda. Attendees will explore the origins of matcha, its connection to Zen meditation, and the evolution of chanoyu — the Japanese Way of Tea — rooted in the principles of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. The event features a brief presentation on the history and philosophy of chanoyu, a ryūrei (table-style) tea ceremony demonstration by members of Omotesenke Domonkai, and a hands-on workshop where participants can learn to whisk matcha at their own table. Seating is limited, and registration is required using this Google Form. For more information, contact Nada Abdelmalak at ppl51@su.edu.
