“American Textures,” a documentary film by director Arnd Wächter, is shown at 6 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. Mr. Wächter will be an attendance for a Q&A session after the movie. “American Textures” is a feature documentary that follows six American youth of Latino, Caucasian and African-American backgrounds as they travel together through North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina. Together, they develop the courage, skills and trust to have frank conversations about issues of race, class and culture in the U.S. Their shared travel experiences, shared emotions and shared discoveries about each other become the doorway to deepen our understanding of the others and society. First-Ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off, presented by the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. Pay $2 at the door, sample all the chili and cornbread entries, and vote for the best. Drinks, candy and fun are also included! How good is your chili and/or cornbread?
