Jess is Interim Director of TTL. They are the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding FYS Faculty Award, an RSD fellow, and the designer of the Antiracism and Racial Justice training for SU. Jess earned their PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida with a specialization in the social foundations of education. Jess teaches FYS, Gender & Women’s Studies, and History.

Jacob is the Instructional Technology Support Coordinator for TTL. Prior to arriving at Shenandoah, Jacob provided IT support at varying levels within the non-profit, marketing, and K12 sectors. He earned his RBA degree from West Virginia University with a minor in History and an area of emphasis in Communications Studies.

Sarah is the Simulation Experience Coordinator for TTL. In this role, Sarah works closely with all schools to explore how simulated experiences can transform learning. Prior to joining the Transformative Teaching and Learning Team, Sarah oversaw The [Not Just] Women’s Center at Shenandoah University. Sarah studied musical theater for the actor at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

Hilary is the Instructional Support Coordinator for TTL. She also teaches narrative structure and storytelling in the Virtual Reality Design program. Prior to joining SU in 2019, she was the director of tutoring services at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, KY. Hilary earned her MFA in creative writing from The City College of New York.
Catharine Gruver, MS

Catharine is an Instructional Designer for TTL. Prior to joining Shenandoah, she taught asynchronous undergraduate classes for over ten years and designed learning experiences at The Scripps Research Institute and Allen Communication Learning Services. Catharine earned her MS in Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University.
Jenna Azar, M.Ed.
Jenna is an Instructional Designer for TTL. Prior to joining SU, Jenna held leadership roles in higher education where she focused on strategic educational priorities – diversity, equity, and inclusion, student success, and digital learning – including developing several interdisciplinary cross-campus academic initiatives. Jenna holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University.
