Audition & Interview Requirements

A Music Audition at Shenandoah consists of several components, depending on the program(s) and instrument(s) for which you are auditioning. Please use the chart and links below to find the specific audition guidelines listed for each program and instrument.

Audition
An audition paneled by Conservatory Faculty members.
Portfolio Review
A review by Conservatory Program Faculty members of submitted artistic creations. Portfolio must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to interview.
Program Interview
An interview paneled by the Conservatory Program Faculty members for the degree of application.
Music Skills Assessment
A short, in-person assessment of an individual’s ability to clap, count, and sing basic rhythms.
Written Theory Diagnostic
A computerized theory diagnostic that assesses an individual’s music theory knowledge. This diagnostic is used only for theory class placement purposes.

Audition Dates

*Students interested in auditioning for the Musical Theatre Accompanying degree will attend, and audition for their program, during Theatre Audition Dates.
