Art and Design Requirements
Our Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design program offers an immersive, hands-on education designed to empower you as an artist and engaged citizen. Customize your journey through diverse artistic pathways—from Graphic Art and Digital Design to Pre-Art Therapy—while exploring a full spectrum of media including painting, sculpture, and digital art.
This holistic curriculum emphasizes technical skill, critical thinking, and cultural awareness, preparing you for success in the workforce or graduate school. Beyond the studio, you’ll gain real-world experience through community engagement, mentorship from diverse faculty, and global collaborative opportunities to harness the transformative power of art.
Admission Requirements
- Academic Admissibility: Being academically eligible for admission to Shenandoah University.
- Successfully completing and passing the interview and portfolio review process (outlined below).
Portfolio Requirements
- Upload 8-10 images of artwork that applicants feel are the strongest examples of their artistic talent and experience. It is helpful to see a variety of subjects and styles in the portfolio, as well.
Interview Requirements
- A virtual interview with the Art and Design Program Director, which includes review and discussion of:
- Portfolio submissions
- Artistic experience including any classes (in or out of school), workshops, camps, etc.
- Future goals and dream jobs within the field of Art and Design.
