Shenandoah Names Two New Vice Presidents

Scott Spriggs and Yolanda Gibson to join ranks of university administrators

Shenandoah University has announced the addition of two new vice presidents to its list of administrative officers.

Mr. Scott Spriggs, chief marketing and creative officer in the Office of Marketing & Communications, will become vice president for recruitment and chief creative officer, effective June 1. Dr. Yolanda Barbier Gibson, a Virginia native, will become vice president for student success, effective July 1.

Scott Spriggs

I am delighted that Scott has agreed to take on a senior leadership role to enhance SU’s recruitment and reputation, which will enable our recruitment and marketing teams to work more seamlessly together. And I can’t wait for Yolanda to join the Shenandoah family, as I feel her experience will prove immeasurably beneficial to current and future students.”

Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D. | President

Spriggs, who brings a strong background in visual design and marketing to the role, has served as the chief marketing and creative officer at Shenandoah for the past six years, overseeing creative content, visual and digital media, video production, website development and design, photography and branding. He is a graduate of James Madison University. Prior to joining Shenandoah University, he worked for Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) directing marketing and branding efforts for Shentel and Sprint Wireless. In his new role, Spriggs will be responsible for admissions, student recruitment, media recruitment, open houses, marketing, communications services, reputation and branding for the university.

I am extremely excited to share our powerful student success stories connecting future students with our strong mission and achievement-based experiences. We will continue to build on our recruitment and marketing successes as we share the transformational power of Shenandoah University.”

Gibson, who is a first-generation college graduate, served as both the associate dean of first-year experience and chief alumni relations officer during her time at Marymount University. She currently holds a prestigious American Council on Education Leadership Fellowship at Towson University in Maryland.

I am honored and elated to serve as the next vice president for student success at Shenandoah University. I value and believe in the mission of private institutions such as Shenandoah University that blend professional and career experiences with liberal learning. Shenandoah University is committed to preparing students not only for the present, but also for the future, and I am looking forward to enhancing the Shenandoah student experience as well as continuing the legacy of student success.”
