Shenandoah University has announced the addition of two new vice presidents to its list of administrative officers.
Mr. Scott Spriggs, chief marketing and creative officer in the Office of Marketing & Communications, will become vice president for recruitment and chief creative officer, effective June 1. Dr. Yolanda Barbier Gibson, a Virginia native, will become vice president for student success, effective July 1.

Spriggs, who brings a strong background in visual design and marketing to the role, has served as the chief marketing and creative officer at Shenandoah for the past six years, overseeing creative content, visual and digital media, video production, website development and design, photography and branding. He is a graduate of James Madison University. Prior to joining Shenandoah University, he worked for Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) directing marketing and branding efforts for Shentel and Sprint Wireless. In his new role, Spriggs will be responsible for admissions, student recruitment, media recruitment, open houses, marketing, communications services, reputation and branding for the university.

Yolanda Gibson
Gibson will provide oversight in counseling, wellness, academic support services, career services, student retention, student persistence, enrollment management, the care team, student conduct and new-student orientation. She will aid in connecting students with services that will make them successful inside and outside the classroom and that will help them land their first job.
Gibson holds a Bachelor of Arts in communication and a minor in business from Marymount University. She earned a master’s in community college teaching and a Doctor of Arts in higher education administration, both from George Mason University.
Gibson, who is a first-generation college graduate, served as both the associate dean of first-year experience and chief alumni relations officer during her time at Marymount University. She currently holds a prestigious American Council on Education Leadership Fellowship at Towson University in Maryland.

Retirement of Clarresa Moore Morton, Ph.D.
The two vice president positions will become effective in the summer of 2019 after the retirement of Clarresa Moore Morton, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management & student success. Dr. Morton has been a senior leader at Shenandoah since 2004, overseeing a dramatic rise in retention rates, graduation rates and student enrollment.
