Continuo Performance Workshop with Paula Maust

Shenandoah Conservatory hosts a workshop on continuo performance during the Keyboard Performance Seminar at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Goodson Chapel – Recital Hall. Guest artist Paula Maust is coaching singers and keyboardists in the stylistic performance of recitative using excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” (Watkins-Shaw edition); scores will be provided for those who do not have their own. All students are cordially invited to attend.

Praised as “a refined and elegant performer” by the Boston Musical Intelligencer, Paula Maust is a co-director of both Burning River Baroque and Musica Spira. She has also performed with the Washington Bach Consort, Modern Musick, the Virginia Symphony, the Baltimore Baroque Band, and the B’More Bach Ensemble. Paula has attended the American Bach Soloists Academy and has worked as a staff accompanist at the Amherst Early Music Festival and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. Recent solo engagements have been on the Baltimore Bach Marathon, the Baroque Bonanza, the Lycoming College concert series, masterclasses at the Flint Collection, and concerti with the Baltimore Baroque Band.
