Stokes Challenges Students to Create Videos Performing Multiple Parts

Coordinator of Strings and Professor of Bass Donovan Stokes, D.M., challenged students to create videos of their playing to share on YouTube and other social media platforms. He often asks them to play multiple parts and edit them together. The result is a video in which they play all parts of the ensemble. It is a great opportunity for them to create performances for the digital world, given the lack of performances. It will likely take them a few weeks to put together, but he has provided a few of his own examples, including:

Stokes also uses Zoom and FaceTime for one-on-one meetings with his students. These platforms require a good microphone, broadband connection and monitors/headphones on the instructor’s end. These meetings resemble traditional in-person lessons.
