Coulson Seeks to Decolonize Pedagogical Approaches in Teaching Theatre History through TTL Fellows Program

Assistant Dean for Student Learning, Director of Acting and Associate Professor of Theatre Carolyn Coulson, Ph.D. was accepted into the 2021/22 Transformative Teaching and Learning (TTL) Fellows program through Shenandoah University’s Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning. Her year-long project is on finding ways to decolonize the pedagogical approaches to teaching theatre history, which has been taught from a white, Euro-centric lens for so long that it is difficult to find texts which have other frames. This is part of her larger project in building equity, diversity and inclusion in theatre at Shenandoah.
