Research by Music Alumni Published in Music Therapy Perspectives

Martina Bingham ’18 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Pedagogy – Voice), Johanna L.E. Horn ’19, MT-BC (Master of Music Therapy) and Cassie Byers ’19, MT-BC (Master of Music Therapy) all had research studies accepted for publication in the journal Music Therapy Perspectives. Byers’ “Professional Identity Formation of Early Career Music Therapists” and Horn’s “Music Therapy for Hospitalized Antepartum Patients: A Mixed Methods Study” were Master of Music Therapy thesis projects. Bingham’s “Defining the Therapeutic Singing Voice: An Analysis of Music Therapists’ Clinical Work” was a follow-up study to her dissertation, for which she received the MAR Interdisciplinary Research Award in 2019, with Adjunct Associate Professor of Music Therapy Elizabeth Schwartz, M.A., who served as co-author.
