Chen ’19 Presents Workshop on Somatic Practice and Artmaking at Wilson College

Associate Dean for Academic Success and Professor of Dance Ting-Yu Chen ’19, Ed.D., gave a master workshop on Somatic Practice and Artmaking to 20 Master of Fine Art students at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, on July 14. Participants were a mix of movement artists and visual artists. In this three-hour workshop, Dr. Chen opened the space for the participants to explore their cultural identity and positionality, and experience somatic practice for greater ease and flow as artmakers followed by the artmaking lab. The workshop culminated in sharing participants/artists’ work and reflection. Chen received heartwarming compliments by the artist students and Wilson College M.F.A. program director and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Joshua Legg ’92, ’94, ’99 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Arts Management – Dance, Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, Master of Fine Arts in Dance – Choreography/Performance).
